Out with the old and in with the new, as they say. Honestly, 2017 was a rollercoaster of a year and with all that was going on around the world and in my personal life, I am so ready to move on. I’ve made up my mind that 2018 is going to be
my year (you guys can share my limelight too, don’t worry) and so I am facing it with that all too familiar energy and positivity. With that said, I hope you guys can also begin to look forward to 2018.
1. Getting this blog up and running
I’ve been wanting to start a blog for years now, and I remember spending all my time making a blog dream board on Pinterest, in the hopes of eventually finding the time and motivation to sit down, write a post and click that ‘Publish’ button. This is a little debatable, but I finally feel that I’m mature enough to manage this blog along with my (struggling) social life and the pressures of being a student.
2. Loving myself, even more than I already do
It might sound a little big headed (and frankly, I don’t care), but I can’t wait to love myself. As a girl reaching eighteen, I’ve struggled with insecurities and fluctuating self confidence (like many other girls and young women). I’ve gone from hating my smile to loving it, from hating my nose to loving it and from feeling ignored to making sure my voice is heard. I’ve still got a few nagging insecurities, but I can see myself growing and I’m really, really excited to see how far I can go and how much of a better person I can be.
3. Entering university and studying a course I’m interested in
This year come September, if all goes well, I’ll be packing my bags and setting off for university (Current students may laugh at my naïve enthusiasm). The idea of studying a course that I want to is mind-blowing to me. I’ve deliberated a lot in terms of what I want to be and what degree I would like to pursue, so to have made a decision that makes me happy is, to me, like a dream. So actually, I’m not just looking forward to this; I am excited, hyped even.
So that’s it- the three things I am most excited for in 2018. I genuinely hope that 2018 is a great year, not only for my family and I, but also for you guys. My belief is that, at the end of the day, the decision is mine as to how I make the most of the year; to me, that’s a great comfort.
